The holidays are more than just decorations and food. The little details make each Christmas special and different than the year before. Some families like to put up the traditional tree, wrap presents in a color and patterned theme, volunteer together, travel to see family, and (of course) eat! Are you ready to add Christmas Cheer to photos?

There’s magic in the air when you’re surrounded by friends and family, when the fireplace is lit while the snow is falling, and while you’re sharing all you have with others.

I love to document the details of events and travels. The presents under the tree, the decor, the food, the gifts, and all the little things that make the holidays special are perfect subjects to photograph. But how do you capture the warmth and glitz or the perfectly decorated tree? And how do you add a little bit of holiday cheer and magic to holiday photos?

Well, I’ll share my secret with you! Check out this easy to follow tutorial on how to add color, sparkle, and vibrancy to your holiday images with Topaz Glow and Topaz Star Effects!

NOTE: The presentation talks more about processes than our traditional workflow webinars, join Harold Davis as he explains the why behind the how of his editing workflow.

Master photographer Harold Davis is well known for his books, prints, and extraordinary images of a wide variety of subject matter. “I’ve been called a digital artist who uses photographs as my source material,” he says, “and I believe this is a good way to consider my work.” Harold Davis likes to take his imagery slightly beyond conventional photography using digital painting, but not so far beyond photography that he would “lose the suspension of disbelief inherent in the photographic capture.”

In creating this syncretic mixture of photography and digital art, Harold Davis says that among his favorite “go-to tools are the brilliant Topaz Labs Photoshop plugins.”

In this webinar, Harold will explain how he uses Topaz Adjust, Topaz Simplify, Topaz Glow 2, and Topaz Impressions 2, and provide concrete examples. He’ll discuss two of his ideas about using special effects in Photoshop: If you’ve ever wanted to know how the Hegelian triad and homeopathy relate to the use of the Topaz plugins in Photoshop, this may be the webinar for you. Finally, he’ll explain how he uses a touch of Topaz in his workflow to create his unique photographic art.

There will be time for Q&A following the webinar.

About Harold Davis: Harold Davis is the author of eighteen bestselling photography books, most recently Achieving Your Potential As a Photographer: A Photographer’s Creative Companion and Workbook, published by Focal Press. His new book, The Photographer’s Black & White Handbook: Making and Processing Stunning Digital Black and White Photos, is slated for early 2017 publication by Monacelli Press. A Zeiss Lens Ambassador and Moab Master, Harold’s work has been published in books, advertisements, cards, posters, and in art editions. His prints are widely collected. As a workshop leader he is constantly in demand.  Harold is on the faculty at institutions including the Heidelberg Summer School of Photography, Maine Media Workshops, and Point Reyes Field Seminars.

Do you have a night sky photo that just isn’t as amazing as it appeared through your viewfinder? This tutorial can help add an artistic flare to your photos. Topaz Glow 2 allows you to turn your photographs into masterpieces with the use of varying glow effects. Glow 2 allows you to create images that really pop!

Today, we’ll cover how Glow 2 can be used to enhance starry night photos. This tutorial will show how varying glow effects can exaggerate those beautiful night sky photos. During this tutorial, the starry night effect will be applied selectively throughout the photo. All this means is some of the image will have the effect applied while other parts, such as mountains or water will be the original. Since we will be masking parts of the image, it is important that you use Glow 2 through a hosting application like Photoshop so that we can properly use the masking functions. If you aren’t familiar with using Glow 2 as a plugin, don’t worry. I will explain all of this in depth in latter steps.

Learn how to accomplish the following in this tutorial:

  • Getting started with Glow 2
  • How to create an effect from start to finish in Glow 2
  • Use ReMask to enhance details such as mountains and water

In this tutorial, I’ll be using an image of a starry snow covered mountain, which you can download here. Glow 2 will help turn this already amazing photograph into a work of art with the perfect focal point or extra flare!
